Interfaces

Everytime i design a website the first thing i think about is how the menu will look, function and feel. Designing intuitive interfaces is hard work and without staying within conventonal layout styles, 99% of the time users get lost and give up. I've just come across a website that trys a new type of interface and just works brilliantly. I think anyways.

Bookmarks & RSS? It's all so easy

Discovered the addons section of firefox half hour ago and i've done all sorts including setting up rss feeds to all my blogs of interest, bookmark panel with just the images (saves clicking on a list when its just there) and different types of themes. The original ended going back on but you know how it is.

As for my life atm not much has happened as you've probably guess other than looking forward to my bday tuesday and the vast amount of drink around that day.

But possibly the only thing i've done with myself other than the odd subway is i've changed my banner. Wanted something like neils blog which has it in sniq (sp?) with the background and so fourth. So late last night i made a little white mess and stuck my name to it.

Btw if you've got issues with the size of my blogs text, push ctrl + you fucking mug.

End of term

Suppose i better conclude this term while its still fresh in my mind. The last 2/3 weeks have been hard and stressful, esspecally a week before Virtual Environments was due in but once that was out the way everything looked up.

VE's presentation went alright but nothing special and don't expect to get a brilliant grade but hopfully a better one that last terms efforts. Contextual studies was next and fourtually that was bashed out in a day followed with a well deserved pint. Good days.

Content management systems went smoothly this week as i kept on top of things and had a (apparently) brilliant presentation today. Delivered with a heavy journal was a cherry on the cake. But then again they're not gonna rip into you there at the presentation so i'm not expecting anything grade wise.

BUT that means the term is over and got like 3+ weeks to myself (and little john) so with my birthday coming up next week it's gonna be 3 nights of carlings, shots and chinese's.

Looks like i better find a job

Monday....Tick!

Well today started off as a go go for the presentation but one of the lectures decided to give me a shit load of work to do instead. Had to redo all the images i did last night and change the actual coded site. Pain in the arse but i got some interesting feedback from people and it was a bit shocking to realise that so many people couldn't find the post button, even though it's sitting in the middle of the most obvious place of the site. Obviously not...

But when i got home i got on with the presentation and with a bit of play, work, play, I cooked up 45 slides! Which pointed out by craig isn't a good thing so tomorrow i'll delete/merge a couple and rethink the structor.

So yes i did do work today and had the most random conversation with craig. all shits and giggles

Sunday....Tick!

On my list to do for thursday is on monday, get all the extra sketchs done and list all the problems and security issues etc. Also try and start the presentation. Tuesday is finishing the presentation and also try finishing up the journal too. Bought an A3 sketchbook today while i was out because of the horrid memory of last weeks efforts. Wednesday will be cleaning everything up and chilling out, maybe fine tune the coding on the site. See how it goes.

But i'm gliding through this because ive done what i needed to do today and that was do all the images of "what it would look like". This consist of 10 images going through a scenario when you go to my site. Order is as follows -

CM coding finished'ish

After yesterdays 8 hour straight session of php and sql i thought i'd see (with a fresh mind) get the problems i had yesterday sorted before the guys came round to sort the other project out. And guess what? this madass mofo not only just gone and done it! The image upload is working and its sweeeeet. There isn't resize or thumbnail versions but its more than enough for thursday presentation which i'm essatic about because the only thing i "need" to solve is some silly background image not repeating.

Things i've dropped from coding though are the edit, delete and full page sections due to it being too complicatied. Doesn't sound difficult but i would need to make the image upload far more complex and getting it to do what i've done so far was hard enough.

So now on my little list is
